Fort McMurray Wildfire (Alberta, Canada)
Fort McMurray residents are returning to clean up homes and businesses after the May 2016 wild fires.
This video explains what is happening at the landfill as they work to handle about 9,000 refrigeration units. Much of the planning and remediation efforts are being based on wildfire experience in California and from Slave Lake, Alberta in 2011. Burned areas remain closed off to public access for the time being. Ash and debris were sprayed with Posi-shell to minimize ash blowing and washing away. Testing of the ash is ongoing.
