In addition to serving as the Director of the SWANA Landfill Management Division, I also  serve on the Research Council for the Environmental Research and Education Foundation (EREF).  The Council was formed by the EREF Board of Directors to evaluate and advise the Board on the various solid waste research proposals that are submitted each year for funding.  Most of the proposals are submitted by University professors and other parties, and cover a wide range of solid waste research topics including fundamental research on sustainability, recycling, collection, and disposal.

The upcoming free, two-day, EREF sponsored, egional Summit on Sustainable Solid Waste Practices & Research, which will be held in Indianapolis on April 27-28, 2011, spotlights results of ongoing and recently completed research that has been funded by EREF.  Some of the top researches in the solid waste field will be presenting the findings of their current research efforts.

We are expecting 75 to 100 people to attend the seminar.   As of Friday, there were already 70 people committed to attend.   The agenda for the session can be found at the following link: http://erefdn.org/index.php/events/educational/.  If you are interested in attending, you can register on the EREF website http://erefdn.org/index.php/events/educational/.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the EREF offices directly.
