SAFETY SUMMIT: Building a Positive Safety Culture: Discussion and an Example of Success

The presenters will lead a discussion on how to move from reacting to safety issues to having employees feel invested in their own safety as well as the safety of fellow employees. You will hear about the safety program in the South Central Solid Waste Authority (New Mexico), which is the first municipal government entity to receive the New Mexico Occupational Safety and Health Administration (NM OSHA) Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) and how you can adapt its safety principles for your own organization.

Steve MauerSteve Mauer has completed two years as regulatory compliance specialist for the South Central Solid Waste Authority.
Patrick PeckPatrick L. Peck has 20 years of experience in solid waste management primarily in the Western United States and Mexico and holds a degree in Agricultural Business Management, from Cal Poly Pomona.
Don StarkDon Stark has been directly involved with safety and compliance within the motor carrier industry for 37 years and is employed by National Interstate Insurance Company as a senior risk management specialist.
